Capt Georges Fish & Chips

Manager: Capt. George?
Telephone: (905) 579-3605

Arrrrrrg...Captain, we needs some Halibut & Chips for our crew! The Captain delivers value here! We ordered 3 Halibut and Chips for $6.50 per order and received enough food to feed our crew of 4 with lots left over! As a matter of fact, we couldn't finish all the fish!

The quality of the Halibut was excellent.  We received large pieces in a nice light battering.  Some places really batter up their fish to make their portions larger... not here! Proving that batter is not necessarily better. Excellent gravy too, for all those who are gravy crazy.

If you're looking to get your money's worth, we highly recommend Captain Georges, hidden in a small unit in the Zeller's plaza at Townline.

This is a nice location to enjoy a good lunch or dinner.  The pub is cozy and relaxed with good service.

For the Business lunch, the Pub also offers free Internet access so you can work right at your table.  Get online and check those emails while sipping on a pint of your favourite beer....what better way to work!

Honey I Shrunk The Crazy Bread! I get home and open the bag of Crazy Bread.  The smell of garlic fills my nostrils... ahhhh. I look into the bag and wonder how such a wonderful aroma can come from something so small.  Honey.. call 911!  Someone has made off with 1/2 of our Crazy Bread! No wait... they're just shorter and of lesser value! Now, you get 8 pieces in an order of Crazy Bread, but we are confused as to which piece counts as a piece! As you can see in photo #1, there is a considerable size difference yet both pieces are counted as a full piece of Crazy Bread.  This was ok when the overall size of the order was larger but now... Little Caesars seems to be living up to their first name LITTLE and now they'll get Little of our business.

Canuckster's Tap & Grillstarstarstar

Canuckster's Restaurant
900 Hopkins Street (Near AMC)

This restaurant is now closed down!

Lunch at Canuckster's is consistently good with friendly service and fair portions.  The staff here really try to get to know their clients and will usually go out of their way to make you happy.  On one occasion we ordered a particular dish and received a very similar, though incorrect dish. The result was lunch on the house and two additional free lunches for another day.  This shows that the owner here is trying to ensure his guests are happy and in our book that attitude deserves recognition.  I recommend the veal and the hot turkey open face sandwich. Beer here is also less expensive than most of the local pubs.  This place has been steadily improving since Warren took over, it just needs is a little more re-decorating to finish it off. Enjoy Canuckster's.

Lunch for two at Pimentos in Whitby was a delight! Excellent service combined with beautifully presented meals and a nice wine selection made for a delicious, romantic lunch.  We have also had the pleasure of visiting Pimentos for dinner, that experience was a delight as well. We found the prices to be just slightly higher than having lunch at any of the Whitby Pubs, but this wonderful restaurant makes such a nice change to the standard pub fare. If you're looking for a upscale lunch or dinner you'll enjoy Pimentos, we give them four stars.

The TAP as it's known is certainly one of the nicer pubs in the downtown area decor wise.  We actually eat at the TAP fairly often and find the food to be consistently good.  This is what you really expect a relaxed dining experience to be.  There is even a fireplace to keep you cozy when the Canadian winter is upon us. The soups are VERY good and portions are fairly generous. We give the TAP three stars.

Chicken Balls, Beef Fried Rice, Beef Chop Suey.  From the chicken balls to the fortune cookies, this home delivery meal was a disappointment!

Unfortunately I just don't have a lot of positive things to say about this meal.  It was expensive and the quality was not respective of the price. Next time we'll be giving South China a miss and no stars.

The bad news about ordering Chinese food is it is expensive, usually about twice the price of pizza.  However, the good news is it usually lasts for more than one meal, so you get to enjoy it at least twice :)

The Golden Gate provides consistently good quality food, when you look at the quantity of food you actually receive.  I think it's also good value too. I highly recommend the chicken balls, egg rolls and beef fried rice. A very enjoyable home delivery meal.  Three stars here.
