We recently
visited Good Fella's Restaurant...it was terrible! I'm
not sure when the commenter went, but we went on the night Canada
won the World Cup. Our server was too busy flirting
with other patrons to take our drink order for 15 minutes. We
were there 1 hour before we received our dinners, and my dinner
was cold. The only good thing was that the Prime Rib
was second only to the Keg, according to my husband. We
waited 1/2 hour for our bill, and we had to ask for it at that. No
one came to see if we needed anything else, and upon swiping the
debit card, the manager walked away, leaving my husband to finish
the transaction on his own, not even waiting to see if it was
approved! All in all, a terrible visit, and not one I'm
willing to risk repeating. Definitely won't be
returning! - Jules |

I have worked at
Casey's Bar & Grill in the Oshawa Center and now currently employed as Kitchen Supervisor at East Side Marios in the mall. From an employee's point of view I must say the working conditions at East Side Mario's are excellent. They hold the strictest policy for sanitation, service and quality that
I've ever experienced. Employee's at both restaurants are great to work with to some degree, minus a few in each that we could all live without having. Customers need to understand though, that during the busy periods the stress level of the floor staff and the kitchen staff increases as we try to maintain the best quality of food and service that is possible. During the busy periods it always helps that our customers understand this. We try hard to get all your food out within 15 - 20 minutes, but it's next to impossible during the dinner hours when the
restaurants are filled with 100+ food orders in a matter of 5 minutes. Customers understanding this and
keeping a positive attitude greatly helps the floor staff. Understand that when the floor staff get stressed, it also affects the kitchen staff which in turns affects you as a customer.

I would
like to comment on Tiffany's Restaurant on Dundas St W in
Whitby. I was NOT happy with the service that I received there.
The owner was rude, uncouth and he basically wouldn't leave me
alone. He tried charging me $8.50 for a small plate of cold onion
rings, and I accidentally dropped an onion ring on the floor, he
came over with the vaccuum while I was still eating, picked up my
plate off the table, wiped the table down, and put a tray
underneath my plate. It made for a very uncomfortable eating
experience. I will not go back to Tiffanys. |

I didn't
see any articles on El Stavros restaurant on King St in Oshawa. It
is a fine dining establishment that I probably frequent about 3
times a month. They are truly the best restaurant in Oshawa. The
food is good (best caesar salad), the service is amazing and the
value is there. I think anyone looking for a quiet dinner wants to
try this place. The Sunday brunch is also amazing for less around
10.00 a person. Where can you get roast beef, crab salad, belgium
waffles for this price. PS: I am told that I am hard to please so
good for El Stavros - Suzette
Durham

Agree with
you on Montana's and Kelsey's, Pimentos is our daughters favourite
after a stressful day. We found the service at Casey's in Oshawa
on several occasions quite slow, but didn't find the food too bad.
Try the Casey's in Ajax, We liked it better. - Mabel W. |

Wimpy's on
park just north of the 401 would have to be the worst place in
Oshawa to eat. My son and I decided to check it out because we
have been to other locations and it has been ok. But I tell you,
the hot turkey was like a dogs chew toy, leathery and totally
unchewable, gravy cold and lumpy, my sons burger had 2 hairs in
it. When brought to the waiters attention all I got was a mumble
and a shoulder shrug!!! Simply DISGUSTING. - Macgregor R. |

I too had
an awful experience at Casey's at the Oshawa Centre. The food was
cold and our plates were dirty. However, what really bothered me
was after paying $40 for two meals I couldn't pay with interact.
At the end of the meal I was told I couldn't use my debit card,
instead I was to be charged $1.25 for the use of Casey's bank
machine. I find this insulting and greedy and will not return to
Casey's until debit is available or the bank machine doesn't
charge a service fee. - Jennifer A. |

I love the
review of Montana's in Ajax. We have dined there three times with
different family members and have had great wait staff each time.
When we experience a long wait for food the waitress was over to
say sorry and then sent the manager over. We were having such a
great time with the kids we hadn't noticed how long it had been
and had never complained. Yet the manager had reduced the bill by
15% and free desserts all round. I wish we could say the same for
the Whitby location but from the staff to the noise level you
wouldn't even know it was the same franchise. It is worth the
drive to Ajax from Whitby because the severs are outstanding. - T.

My
boyfriend and I visited Montana's tonight, and we had a wonderful
server (Toni) who was very attentive to our needs. When she came
to bring us our bill, she sat down beside me and the 3 of us had a
nice conversation! The food was amazing, and not overly expensive.
I wish there were more restaurants with staff that seem to enjoy
their jobs thoroughly! That creates a very pleasant dining
experience!! - Sabrina D |

I agree on
your comments on Cotter Street and most all the restaurants that
you reviewed. There is a small restaurant in Bowmanville, with
excellent food called Silks. Give it a try. I am certain you will
enjoy it. -Rob |

When you
get a chance, try the Waterfront Bistro in Pickering (bottom of
Liverpool by the lake). My wife and I have had many great meals at
the Bistro and the staff is always friendly. J.M. |

What a
great review of Cotter Street. About a year ago I had the exact
same experience (except the Waltzing Weasel wasn't open to fall
back on). Kudos for a honest review! - Samantha |

I found
this site by accident. What a great idea. We have tried several
restaurants in the area over the past 20 years but have given up
on finding anything really good. I would be interested in finding
a very good restaurant for dinner. We usually go to Toronto but
would rather not. I will stay tuned to this site and hopefully
find what we are looking for. thank you. Alex G. |

I was
wondering what Canucker's was like and now I'll definitely give it
a try. Also, I think Hot Rocks in Whitby is one of the best and
most creative restaurants around. Thanks for the info. Keep up the
good work. - Jay .A |

My husband
and I dined at Pimentos last weekend. What a great
experience...the service, food and atmosphere all rated at least a
four! I'd give it a five, but then you might think i was related
to the management...can't wait for our next visit. - Tammy L |

I have to
agree with your review of the Oshawa Centre's Casey's. My last
experience there was awful. Staff were inattentive and slow
when they did finally decide to notice us. And the new Casey's
in Ajax isn't much better. I think they hire from the same
poor staffing pool! - Colin G. |

Thanks for
the recommendation to Captain George's fish and chips-- we fed 4
adults and 5 kids with the family pack and the quality was great
even when we had to re-heat ( our guests arrived late) , we will
return there for sure-- happy dining - Elizabeth T. |

Great idea
reviewing restaurants. You're right when you say that dining out
in Durham can be less than satisfying or that you feel like you're
interrupting the wait staff when you want to order. Keep up the
good work and here's hoping that you guys don't gain too much
weight! - John S.
Durham
Central - John, thanks for your comments. You may
notice we don't review too many desserts, perhaps this will help
us keep the waistline under control. |

I
work at Don Cherry's in Whitby (at Champlain) and would love to
see a review here of my restaurant due to the fact of it
being surrounded by all the new restaurants you'll soon be
reviewing.
